HTC's One M8 may have taken the Taiwanese manufacturer to glory -- simply put, the 5-inch flagship is one of 2014's best Android smartphones. Android Pit even cited it as "one of the best Android smartphones ever made."
Such premise leaves us wondering: will its successor surpass the M8's success? At this point, the dubbed HTC One M9 is at the core of whispers, reportedly paving its way to dethrone the reigning iPhone 6.
Release Date
According to Ecumenical News, recent reports claimed that HTC's next mobile launch comes March 2015 -- falling on the same month its predecessor One M8 graced our very eyes.
March 2015 will see the next Mobile World Congress, and the new HTC flagship could make an appearance in the event. Of course, it won't be alone, as Samsung's Galaxy S6 is also rumored to take off its wraps around that time. MWC 2015 is dated March 2 - 5, wrote Digital Spy.
Processor & RAM
The Next Digit cited speculations that One M9 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805 processor running at 2.7 GHz. The source affirmed that the device hops on the competitive bandwagon, going up against top-generation flagships iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and LG G3, among others.
The device may be packed with 3 GB of RAM, said Android Pit. Should the handset sport Snapdragon 805, the outlet added that Adreno 420 may be a certain accompaniment.
Display
Trusted Reviews noted in a recent report that some websites claim that the One M9 may sport a 5.2-inch display panel packed with a 2560 x 1440 resolution; this gives us a whopping 564 ppi density. The outlet pointed that the device is reportedly adopting the QHD display housed by Samsung's Galaxy Note and LG's G3. Still, we expect that the device will look just as unique.
Camera & Body
One M9 may better be off without the Ultrapixel camera, as suggested by Recombu. According to the source, the feature has been criticized to be One M8's sole glitch -- a revamped version of HTC Desire Eye's 13 MP camera seems ideal to take its place. Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) is also expected.
The outlet said HTC may adopt One M8's metallic unibody furnish to its successor, with new colors just as desirable.
Operating System, Storage Options & Price
In terms of operating system, One M9 is most likely to run the new Android 5.0 Lollipop. Storage options might include 64 GB and 128 GB, as reported by The Next Digit. The source is convinced that the device would retail for $299.
HTC One M9 appears to be a collective power of all things improved. We can't wait to see if the device matches up with the company's current flagship -- and how it may battle its way to sales in the future.
