Already a big hit on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, Battlefield 4 has been making waves with its new version on the PlayStation 4. However, not everything has gone smoothly for the game's newest incarnation. Some players have reported various bugs on the PS4 version of the game, as well as problems with Battlefield 4's PC version. It's not all bad news, though. Sony is assuring fans the company has the game's issues in its sites, and is working quickly to offer fixes for the problems.
On the Battlelog website, Battlefield Producer Ali Hassoon responded to some angry users who could not access the game online, explaining that a distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS) on the game was what caused the problem.
"We are being targeted by a DDOS, but working on fixing it asap. Im sorry somebody is ruining your and my day. Rest assured we are doing our best to mitigate the situation though," said Hassoon.
It is unclear if users can expect further DDoS attacks on the game, but developer DICE is taking the matter seriously to try to ensure similar issues do not rise up in the future.
In a similar vein, in a different blog post DICE revealed that the company is preparing several updates for the game on various consoles, including a patch to fix several issues that have cropped up on the PlayStation 4:
"We are aware of the frequent crashes in Battlefield 4 on PlayStation 4. We are hard at work identifying these issues and are hoping to get a game update out early next week. Stay tuned for more details as we can confirm them, and thanks for your patience!"
In addition to this PlayStation 4 patch, a PC patch is also expected to hit users sometime soon. An Xbox 360 patch is also in the works, but DICE did not have any specific launch window for the patch on that console, as it still needs to go through some final testing before it hits the airwaves. DICE did not state exactly what errors they will be addressing with these patches, but the most common complaint fans have is not being able to connect to the game's online modes.
Battlefield 4 has been one of the big hits of the tail end of 2013, and the game has managed to get a fair share of critical success, as well as strong sales to match the strong reviews for the game. While Call of Duty: Ghosts may have overshadowed the game with it's massive sales figures, Battlefield 4 has managed to impress gamers, despite these technical issues.
