Rumors surrounding the next S-line flagship from Samsung are becoming more rampant -- so much so that keeping a vigilant eye over them is almost necessary. After all, the Galaxy S6 could be the Korean tech giant's maneuver to resurrect its recent decline in sales profit.
At this point, the Galaxy S6 has already churned mills of rumors about its specs and features. But maybe words aren't enough to satisfy the curious cat.
The Deccan Chronicle reported an S6 concept which features a full-metal packaging, in contrast to an earlier speculation implying otherwise. The outlet noted that the current design has no plastic is in sight, giving the device a more premium feel compared to any of its line predecessors. The concept presents a 6.7mm thickness and a 140g weight.
On top of its apparent slimness, the device is also said to be water-resistant -- this explains why the rear panel may not be removable. If these things turn out to be true, the device appears to become pretty much of a sexy adventure companion.
While the device seems to get its own design formula (it's "Project Zero," remember?), TechRadar noted chances that it can draw much inspiration from the recently released Galaxy Alpha. We can never really tell, unless we hear from Samsung.
According to Android Pit, the new flagship smartphone may have a dual-edge screen, adopting a curved architecture on both left and right sides. This is one step ahead of Samsung's Galaxy Note Edge, which took the curve to a single edge.
The Galaxy S6 is said to be packed with a Quad HD (2560×1440) display, wrote SamMobile. The concept design cited by Deccan Chronicle agrees with this hardware feature, adding that the display panel could measure 5.2 inches.
Allegedly, the S6 will be powered by the new Exynos 7420, a 64-bit chip packing four Cortex-A53 and four Cortex-A57 cores. A separate model run by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 is also expected.
SamMobile also reported that the device can sport Broadcom's new BCM4773 chip, which pioneers the integration of GPS and other sensors in a single chip. Accordingly, it works by processing data from Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS modules altogether, ultimately resulting to reduced battery consumption.
On a more recent note, SamMobile cited a report from ETNews claiming that the speedy UFS 2.0 NAND Flash memory will be incorporated in the device. This version of the UFS (Universal Flash Storage) is capable of running file transfer up to 1.2GB/s.
The Galaxy S6 has strongly been suggested to arrive in the first quarter of 2015. As we have previously reported, it may opt for a 2015 Mobile World Congress launch, which should be around the first week of March.
