The Boston Celtics are willing to send All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo to the New York Knicks, only if superstar forward Amare Stoudemire and future draft picks are included in the package, a reliable league source disclosed on Monday.

The Celtics are once again entertaining trade offers for their premier point guard four weeks into the 2013-2014 regular season.

According to the source, Boston is open to trade Rondo in exchange for the Knicks' Iman Shumpert, Raymond Felton and Stoudemire, but the Celtics also demand draft picks in exchange for the prolific playmaker.

Analyzing the situation

General manager Danny Ainge is expected to take a 'wait and see' approach until the Celtics get the most enticing offer on the table.

The Knicks' offer--which consists of Shumpert, Felton and Stoudemire for Rondo--appears a win-win situation for both teams on paper, but there are certain issues that need to be addressed to make this trade work.

"Of course, the Knicks primary target is Rondo, Boston's All Star point guard who is currently recovering from knee surgery. The Knicks have been trying to trade Shumpert, Raymond Felton and Amare Stoudemire in a complicated deal for Rondo but the rebuilding Celtics [have] yet to show much interest," New York Daily News writer Frank Isola reported on Sunday.

There are also reports that both Shumpert and Stoudemire underwent knee surgeries that weren't disclosed by the Knicks last summer.

The Knicks were not the only one interested in acquiring Rondo via trade. In fact, there are at least three teams that already set their sights on the playmaker, with the Detroit Pistons also having the talents and assets to get a deal done.

"Unless the Celtics are blown away with an offer, it's hard to imagine Celtics GM Danny Ainge trading his best player, Rondo, to the rival Knicks," he added.

New York Days Soon Over For Shumpert

Whether or not the Rondo trade will materialize, the Knicks are certain to trade away Shumpert in the coming weeks.

Shumpert is averaging 8.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game for the Knicks this season, but the presence of Tim Hardaway Jr. and J.R. Smith makes him dispensable.

The Denver Nuggets and the Sacramento Kings are other ball clubs interested in trading for Shumpert.
