Ubisoft's latest "Assassin's Creed" title is facing frame rate and texture issues, multiple reports say.
Inquisitr reported that several Reddit users are having problems with the recently released game.
"I think my PS4 is dying because I'm having a lot of problems with framerate and textures lately, now I'm playing the part where you have to blend in the crowd to get past the guards and the clothes texures pop in big crowds is horrible. Is it really my PS4 or games just run poorly lately?" Inquisitr quoted Reddit user wouldbeking.
Kotaku's Kirk Hamilton also wrote about the issue -- saying that the frame rate was a "real bummer."
"To my eye, it generally seemed like it was hovering somewhere south of the 30fps that most gamers expect as a bare minimum, and frequently dropped well below that," Hamilton wrote in the report. "When I'd play online on my otherwise stable internet connection, things were worse."
Digital Foundry, via Eurogamer, published a video showcasing "Assassin's Creed: Unity" PS4 and Xbox One side by side.
"Frame-rates in Assassin's Creed Unity are far more unstable compared to Black Flag. Under load, neither version manages to achieve a consistent 30fps, but surprisingly it's the Xbox One game that delivers a smoother experience," captioned Digital Foundry.
Digital Foundry noted that Ubisoft earlier revealed they've locked both PS4 and Xbox One versions of "Assassin's Creed: Unity" at the same specs "to avoid all the debates and stuff."
"Technically we're CPU-bound. The GPUs are really powerful, obviously the graphics look pretty good, but it's the CPU [that] has to process the AI, the number of NPCs we have on screen, all these systems running in parallel.
"...It's not the number of polygons that affect the frame-rate. We could be running at 100fps if it was just graphics, but because of AI, we're still limited to 30 frames per second," VideoGamer quoted Unity producer Vincent Pontbriand.
Interestingly, even some PC gamers are having the same frame rate issues, noted Inquisitr. The outlet said that Gameranx has come up with an issues and fixes guide for "Assassin's Creed: Unity" gamers.
Ubisoft has already rolled out the 900MB Day One patch for the Nov.11-released "Assassin's Creed" title, noted IGN, but Inquisitr said some gamers are still having problems.
The update supposedly "provides fixes for both single-player and co-op mode, and addresses various animation, camera, and HUD issues," stated IGN. AI detection and reaction problems and online matchmaking and connectivity issues are also addressed by the patch.
Inquisitr said that Day One patches seem to be the trend nowadays -- with devs continuing work on "DLC, refinements to the game and bug solving" even after the title is already ready to ship out. It is safe to say that "Assassin's Creed: Unity" is just one of those many titles.
