Dubbed as "Project Zero," the next smartphone flagship in Samsung's S-line is rumored for release in March 2015. International Business Times cited earlier speculations predicting that the Galaxy S6 may launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain.
We have previously reported that the Galaxy S6 could be Samsung's rebound for its recent, not-so-impressive sales performance. Gizmodo wrote that with S6, the Korean tech giant will be starting from scratch -- as the device gears for stiff competition against Apple's iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, as well as LG's G3.
Should the Galaxy S6 arrive in March 2015, we all have about four months left to speculate on what it's all about.
Samsung has been known for the massive displays of its devices, and S6 may not be very much different. According to SamMobile, the flagship will showcase a quad HD (2560×1440) display. Imaging specs are said to include either a 16 MP or 20 MP rear camera, although the outlet believes Samsung is sticking with the former.
As for its front snapper, the S6 is reportedly having a 5 MP type, much like the one found in the earlier Galaxy Grand Prime and Galaxy A3.
A popularly-wanted innovation is a metal furnish, which came to reality with Samsung's recent Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy Note 4. PC Advisor reported that Samsung has been the subject of criticism for the plastic exterior of its products.
In an earlier report, Phone Arena cited HTC Americas president Jason Mackenzie, who appeared to be aiming at Samsung, "If you want to buy a product built out of cheap plastic, there's a solution for you. But we're going after a different customer, someone who wants the best [referring to HTC's One (M8)]."
Meanwhile, the S6's processor is reportedly having two variants. SamMobile wrote that the device could be packed with the new Exynos 7420, featuring a 64-bit architecture with four Cortex-A53 and four Cortex-A57 cores. Another variation would be that using Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor.
The Galaxy S6 is predicted to come in 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB storage options, wrote PC Advisor. The outlet added that the RAM could be worth 3 GB.
Just recently, IHS display senior analyst Jerry Yang said over TechnoBuffalo that the S6 might be "equipped with a dual-edge screen" -- drawing possible inspiration from the Galaxy Note Edge.
Finally, Android has officially announced that its latest mobile operating system, the Android 5.0 Lollipop is rolling out. Also known as Android L, the OS might be the type to power the upcoming S6, as reported by ValueWalk.
Samsung has not confirmed anything about the Galaxy S6 as of the moment.
