Amy Jo Johnson, better known as the actress behind Pink Ranger, performed on the streets of Toronto Friday to raise money for her upcoming film "The Space Between," E! Online reported. And there was a special treat -- Johnson sang in front of the Toronto crowd wearing her Pink Ranger costume.
It turns out that fellow "Power Ranger" cast member David Yost originally proposed the challenge to Johnson, E! Online noted. In a Youtube video, Yost, who played Billy a.k.a. Blue Ranger, said:
"As your friend, I've got a challenge for you. I challenge you to go out in a large public space. I challenge you to take your guitar and I challenge you to sing. But the catch is, you have to be dressed up as a pink power ranger. Doesn't that sound fun? I think it sounds amazing."

Johnson readily accepted the challenge. According to the actress, "I'm feeling a little weird about that. But if you guys think it's a good idea, I will totally rise to the occasion," E! Online reported.
Johnson indeed gave a memorable performance which earned the applause of spectators, E! Online noted. Comic Book added that Johnson was joined by someone dressed as Batman while she was singing in front of the crowd.
On her Instagram page, Johnson posted, "Just woke and realized this wasn't a strange dream I had. Thank you Mark Levy for the photo! And @xkisskisskillx for the suit! Omg! So much stinking fun! All for the love of The Space Between!"
On a separate post on the photo sharing website, Johnson added, "So grateful for the love today!! Marc levy!! @xkisskisskillx !! @jdfffn !! So fun! Indiegogo.com the space between! Come! Be part of the team."
Here's a video of Johnson performing in Toronto.
"The Space Between" has reached its goal of $75,000, but there are still 13 days left for those who would like to make a contribution. According to Comic Book, the film's synopsis reads:
"When a proud new father learns his wife took his infertility into her own hands with a 19-year-old ginger, he sets out on a hilarious and heartfelt journey to find the biological baby-daddy. Filled with a quirky cast of supporting characters, 'The Space Between' is a film about acceptance, family, love....and a few dirty diapers."
Johnson will be joined by fellow actors Michael Cram, Sonya Salomaa, and David Paetkau in the movie, Comic Book concluded.
'Power Rangers' Movie Reboot
Lionsgate, together with Saban Brands, are working on a new film franchise that's based on the "Power Rangers" property, according to Screenrant.
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer and "Power Rangers" co-creator Haim Saban have announced that the movie reboot is slated to be released in theaters on July 22, 2016, featuring a new group of young individuals who will once again give life to the popular characters, Screenrant reported.
When asked for the reason behind their collaboration, Saban said: "Lionsgate is the perfect home for elevating our Power Rangers brand to the next level. In partnership with the Lionsgate team, we're confident that we will capture the world of the Power Rangers and translate it into a unique and memorable motion picture phenomenon with a legacy all its own," as quoted by another report from Screenrant.
Feltheimer only has praises for Saban Brands, saying that he is thrilled to be partnering with the company. "We have the ideal partner and the perfect brand with which to create a motion picture event that will resonate with moviegoers around the world for years to come," Feltheimer stated in the Screenrant report.
In the meantime, there have been no official casting announcements and director selection for the "Power Rangers" movie reboot. We have listed our picks for the colored superheroes here.
The plot for the film will feature a "modern reinvention of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of ordinary high school kids who find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world," according to Screenrant.
