It was a big night for Miranda Lambert and Luke Bryan at the 48th Annual Country Music Association Awards.
The winners of the biggest awards night for country music artists were announced on November 5 at the Bridgestone Arena in Tennessee, according to ABC News.
The first award of the night was bagged by Lambert for her song "Automatic" under the Single of the Year category. LA Times reports that Lambert dominated the 2014 CMA Awards with her nine nominations. She won four CMA honors, including the Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for "Platinum."
"Holy cr*p!" Lambert said onstage, as quoted by CBS News. "I turned 30 last year and I felt like I need to sing about new stuff. This is really, really special to me," the singer added, who appeared emotional during her acceptance speech.
CBS News notes that Lambert, along with Meaghan Trainor, provided entertainment to the audience by singing a duet of the latter's "All About That Bass" hit. Before their performance, Kenny Chesney, who has won the CMA Entertainer of the Year Award four times, sang "American Kids" onstage.
Luke Bryan, on the other hand, was deemed as the night's biggest winner, CBS News adds. Bryan took home the entertainer of the year award, beating other nominated artists Lambert, Blake Shelton, George Strait, and Keith Urban, CBS News further reports. Bryan is considered as one of country music's biggest artists. The singer sold more than 2 million copies of his 2013 album "Crash My Party."
Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley hosted the event for the seventh time this year. They sang a version of Dolly Parton's "Jolene," calling the song "Quarantine" instead.
During the awards night, it was revealed that Underwood is expecting a baby boy with her hockey player husband, Mike Fisher.
Garth Brooks, Tim Tebow, Steven Tyler, Connie Britton, Darius Rucker, Trisha Yearwood and Lucy Hale served as the awards show's presenters, CBS News adds.
