Followers of Kobe Bryant could name various reasons why rumors of the basketball superstar leaving the Los Angeles Lakers, the only team he's been with for his entire professional career, can ring true.

For one, a report by the Business Insider published on Yahoo! Sports noted the Lakers' bad start at the 2014-2015 NBA season with a 0-4 standing, after suffering from a 127-104 loss to the Golden State Warriors last Saturday night.

The Lakers' dismal performance could have brought to life suggestions that Bryant may no longer choose to play for his team. According to an article by the International Business Times, the five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant "may consider a move to a more competitive team as the Lakers consider rebuilding options."

The same report mentioned that there had been a speculation of a team-up between Bryant and free agent Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks in Los Angeles. This can spark a reunion with his former Lakers head coach Phil Jackson and his former backcourt mate Derek Fisher.

Should Bryant transfer?

The IB Times article listed a number of precedents for Bryant not being content with the Lakers and why he might consequently choose to tread his remaining years in basketball with another team. One of those is the 36-year-old superstar guard's desire to still make a run for the title for his 19th professional season. This goal, however, will only materialize with an improved cast and an All-Star teammate, which at this point can be a far-fetched scenario without Julius Randle and Steve Nash who both succumbed to injuries.

What could happen to the Lakers if Bryant will take his talents to another team? The IB Times noted that losing Bryant may hurt in some areas especially in selling out home games, without a marquee player and the legion of fans Bryant has drawn in for the team. The report added that it will also be a gamble to acquire young players and star free-agent signings.

Bryant speaks up

In another Yahoo! Sports article, however, the basketball star has denied the rumors. He said asking for a trade is "not what he does."

"I hear the chatter of Kobe should ask out and he should go and play for a contender in this latter stage of his career," Bryant told Yahoo Sports. "But that's not what I do. I'm extremely loyal to the Lakers.

He also said that he believes "in fighting through the tough times as well as enjoying the good times" saying that it is his responsibility to take his team to the best it can be.
