This weekend, Formula One is heading to Austin for the U.S. Grand Prix, but with the issue of the "financial viability of the sport."
An International Business Times report said that the race has forced two teams - Caterham and Marussia - to feature only 18 cars for the past race week. The article added that this number is the lowest one since the event in Monaco nine years ago.
"Both teams entered the sport in 2010 hoping to succeed based on then plans for a long-mooted cost cap, but have limped along ever since the proposal was scrapped following protests from the major manufacturers, led by Ferrari," the International Business Times wrote.
Reports noted that Formula One chief executive, Bernie Ecclestone, should find out solutions for this type of problem for smaller-scale teams like Caterham and Marussia.
After Sunday's race in Austin, there will only be two more remaining races in Brazil and Abu Dhabi. Lewis Hamilton leads Nico Rosberg by 17 points, but according to the International Business Times, the racer's aim to win a championship is still hindered by the rule which awards double points for a race.
"I think the question is, 'what is fair? It's a rule that they have brought in for the first time. Do I agree with it? I don't know if any of us do agree with it or do not agree with it but it is the way it is and you have to deal with it and get on with it, really," Hamilton told the outlet.
Rosberg, on the other hand, would need to step up his performance in the upcoming races since Hamilton is clearly moving away from him in terms of scores and wins.
Another F1 competitor and current world champion, Sebastian Vettel, is on the struggling side of the competition, with him being unable to win a race.
"You can talk about obligations [to run in qualifying], but in the end we have to manage the situation with the engine. The rules are the same for everyone. Obviously it was our fault we had to be very greedy at the beginning of the season having a lot of issues in terms of reliability and not taking the engines to the end of their lives," he told the International Business Times.
The report also predicted that Hamilton will do good in Sunday's race while Rosberg may only finish as a runner up to the former. Live stream of the races can be accessed through the Sky Sports website.
Meanwhile, Marussia driver, Jules Bianchi, remains in a "critical but stable" state after an accident at the Japanese Grand Prix last Oct. 5. His family told the Daily Mail that the racer suffered a "diffuse axonal brain injury" which has created a widespread damage that needed immediate surgery.
Bianchi's father, Philippe, considered his son's condition a miracle though he noted that news of his accident truly devastated the whole family.
