"Jurassic World" is one of the most highly-anticipated films for released in 2015 -- which is saying a lot considering the massive line up of movies set for next year.
With details on the film slowly trickling in, as a treat to Jurassic fans, here we've compiled 5 of the most exciting details on the upcoming movie.
- Functional Park - Director Colin Trevorrow already gave some details regarding the film via SlashFilm. "Jurassic World takes place in a fully functional park on Isla Nublar. It sees more than 20,000 visitors every day. You arrive by ferry from Costa Rica. It has elements of a biological preserve, a safari, a zoo, and a theme park. There is a luxury resort with hotels, restaurants, nightlife and a golf course. And there are dinosaurs. Real ones. You can get closer to them than you ever imagined possible. It's the realization of John Hammond's dream, and I think you'll want to go there."
- Two-Decade Gap - "Jurassic World" will take place 20 years after the events of "Jurassic Park," released in 1993. The film will play off modern-day realities including society's obsession with money and technology.
- The dinosaurs are thriving - Movie posters can say a lot about a film. According to MTV's analysis of the first poster, the background shows heavy attraction construction but in the foreground lies a dinosaur, wreckage and what seems to be dino eggs. "This seems to hint that while whoever is reviving the theme park is building it up, the old threat of dinosaurs on the loose lurks in the shadows," cautioned the site.
- Dino-Human Connection - "Guardians of the Galaxy" star Chris Pratt stars as a scientist that works alongside the dinosaurs, specifically velociraptors, studying how the interact and behave. Trevorrow said in an earlier interview that Pratt's character, "allows us to explore some new ideas about our relationship with these animals without losing the humor and sense of adventure," quoted Cineworld.
- Crossbred Dinosaurs - Trevorrow revealed via SlashFilm that there will be a crossbred dino. Specifically, one that was created by the geneticists of the park's. "The gaps in her sequence were filled with DNA from other species, much like the genome in the first film was completed with frog DNA."
"Jurassic World" is directed by Trevorrow, and stars Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, Vincent D'Onofrio, Irrfan Khan and Ty Simpkins.
Stay tuned for the "Jurassic World" trailer that will be unveiled in December, per Enstarz, during the release of major blockbuster, "The Hobbit 3: The Battle of the Five Armies."
"Jurassic World" opens in theaters on June 12, 2015.
