Hot off the release of her newest album "1989," Taylor Swift has announced Wednesday on "Good Morning America" that she will donate the proceeds of her track "Welcome to New York" to public schools in New York City.

ABC News reported that the songstress is giving back to her adopted hometown, earning cheers from the audience of "Good Morning America." Hollywood Reporter said that in addition to the "1989" album release, the singer partnered with NYC & Company as its global welcome ambassador for tourism.

"I'm still learning but I'm so enthusiastic about this city that I feel like when I love something, I'm very vocal about it," Swift said, as cited by ABC News. "I just go around going like, 'Everybody, New York is amazing.' So I think they just picked up on that and they gave me, like, a title," the singer added.

An official guide for New York also tweeted about the good news, saying "Breaking news: @taylorswift13 is our Global Welcome Ambassador! #WelcomeToNewYork!"

"New York was a huge landscape for what became this album. It's affected my life in ways I'm not even aware of fully," Swift said, as stated by a report from Billboard.

When asked about her blatant transition to pop music from country in "Good Morning America", Swift remarked that it was an authentic move.

The 24-year-old singer is happy that her fans made the album number one on iTunes, according to another report from Billboard.

"I feel so without a doubt [that] this is the best thing I've done. So to have people able to finally have it now and to have the fans understand what I've been working on for two years, it's just the most amazing feeling," Swift further explained, as cited by ABC News.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Swift's opening track, "Welcome to New York", was written by One Republic's Ryan Tedder, and was produced by Swift herself, Tedder, and Noel Zancanella.

Upon the release of the song last week, the singer said that New York City has played a huge role in the last couple of years of her life.

"It's like an electric city, and I approached moving there with such wide-eyed optimism. I saw New York as a place of endless potential and possibilities, and you can hear that reflected in this music and in this song," the singer remarked, as cited by Hollywood Reporter.
