Houston Rockets vs Miami Heat 2014 Final Score, Replay & Highlights: Dwayne Wade 'Aggressive' Play Leads Win
Miami Heat's 90-85 victory against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night highlighted the winners' effort to rebuild from the remnants of the Big Three.
The match at AmericanAirlines Arena could have pitted Chris Bosh against Dwayne Wade if the former chose to leave Heat but, instead, it became the new big man's chance to witness Wade's legendary play once again, Miami Herald noted.
Here are more highlights from the game, according to Miami Herald:
1. While Bosh has been the team's most consistent player in the preseason, Wade contributed a game-high 26 points through an agressive performance, leading the Heat to its third consecutive preseason win.
2. The guard produced points from 11 of 17 shots from the field and 3 of 3 from the free-throw line, and attempted a driving dunk that declared he'll be 100-percent in next week's regular-season game against the Washington Wizards, after appearing slow versus Kansas City and San Antonio.
"I knew I was going to come out and be aggressive ... I usually get to around game six, seven or eight and try to be aggressive and get into the flow. It was good tonight playing in the fourth quarter and trying to get those fourth-quarter legs," he said, as quoted by Miami Herald.
3. Wade had a three-pointer with 5:24 left to lead 82-79. Next, he assisted newcomer Shawne Williams in a three-pointer. Meanwhile, Bosh scored 22 points, with 7 of 12 shots from the field, 2 of 4 from three-point range and 6 of 9 from the free-throw line. He also pulled off six rebounds.
4. Replacing Norris Cole, point guard Mario Chalmers exploded with 13 points. He also put the Heat at 70, against 67, with 19 seconds in the third quarter.
Rockets strategy
Starters James Harden and Dwight Howard contributed 19 points each to the Rockets, but Bleacher Report noted, coach Kevin McHale gave his reserves the final 15 minutes, to face the Heat's core starters.
According to Houston Chronicle, that did not augur well for the Rockets. The reserves had points in only 12 of 29 attempts, giving away nine turnovers in the process.
Howard reportedly improved and he would give the Los Angeles Lakers a hard time next week. In 28 minutes of play, he produced 19 points from 7 of 10 attempts, Houston Chronicle observed.
Maintaining the momentum
"The guys that started and played those minutes down the stretch felt it in their legs and that's what I wanted," coach Erik Spoelstra said of his side of the court, as quoted by Miami Herald. "It's getting a little bit more clear."
Luol Deng took LeBron James' small forward function while Williams was power forward, as Josh McRoberts is out on a surgery.
"We understand we got 13 new guys in that locker room, so, it's going to take a little time. I'm trying to figure it all out just like everyone else," Wade said, as quoted by Bleacher Report.
He seemed to have figured it out Tuesday.
