'GTA 5' PS4, PC & Xbox One Release Date, Trailer & News: Beta Test Program for Games Likely a Scam, Says Rockstar
The team behind "Grand Theft Auto V" has warned players that there is no such thing as a beta test or a pre-release beta program for the beloved title.
"Please note: There is no pre-release 'Beta' test for Grand Theft Auto V.
"If you see ads or solicitations to join a beta program, beware as this is likely some type of online phishing scam," said Rockstar Games.
Polygon noted that the webpage containing the above warning has been up since May of last year, when alleged beta tests for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game also came out.
The PS4 and Xbox One versions of "GTA 5" are set to roll out Nov. 18, 2014. The PC version of the game will be a little late - for release on Jan. 27, 2015.
According to Rockstar, the next-gen versions of the game "will feature a range of major visual and technical upgrades" plus "increased draw distances and higher resolution." The GTA 5-maker adds:
- New weapons, vehicles and activities
- Additional wildlife
- Denser traffic
- New foliage system
- Enhanced damage and weather effects, and much more
"Grand Theft Auto 5" is already available for pre-order here and both Sony and Microsoft have earlier confirmed bonus for players who purchase pre-release.
"Last month, our friends over at Rockstar announced that all players that pre-order the game would receive $1,000,000 in-game cash to spend across Grand Theft Auto V ($500K) and Grand Theft Auto Online ($500K).
"Today, I'm excited to announce that if you pre-order Grand Theft Auto V from PlayStation Store by November 3rd, you'll receive an additional $300K for Grand Theft Auto Online, so make sure you pre-order early!" said a PlayStation Blog post.
As previously reported, the same pre-order bonus is in store for Xbox One gamers as well.
Rockstar also said that "Grand Theft Auto 5" players on the Xbox 360 and PS3 will be able to "transfer their Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression to their choice of PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC." But that's not all.
"A host of new, exclusive content also awaits for players returning from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions including rare versions of classic vehicles to collect from across the Grand Theft Auto series such as the Dukes, the Dodo Seaplane and a faster, more maneuverable Blimp; activities including wildlife photography and new shooting range challenges, new weapons and more," Rockstar announced.
It looks like everything's set for "Grand Theft Auto 5" PS4, Xbox One and PC. Now to wait for the release date. Are you excited?
