'Star Wars 7' Release Date, Cast & Trailer: Emperor Palpatine Name Revealed...It's Sheev!
All "Star Wars" fans know Emperor Palpatine as just that - Emperor Palpatine. For over three decades, the franchise villain hasn't had a first name but thanks to an upcoming "Star Wars" novel, Palpatine's given name has been revealed.
According to SlashFilm, the character has gone through a number of name changes, from The Emperor to "Senator Palpatine, followed by Chancellor Palpatine and then revealed as Darth Sidious. But never once did this Star Wars beacon of evil, the Phantom Menace himself, played perfectly by Ian McDiarmid, have a first name."
Now, with the release of novel titled, "Tarkin" by James Luceno, the first name of the dark character will be debuted. Darth Sidious is actually named Sheev Palpatine.
TOR.com shared that there is no information if Sheev was a name coined by Luceno or is "an advance reveal of a factoid that will be revealed in Star Wars Episode VII. Could be either one, or it could be that Palpatine always had a canonical first name in the Lucas databanks and no one thought to ask what it was until now."
"Star Wars: Episode 7" has been highly secretive of its movie details. However, the timeline of the film has been announced earlier. HollywoodLife noted that the new film will take place exactly 30 years after the events of Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, which came out in 1983.
Badasss Digest has also posted alleged essential plot details from the new film.
The site claims that the JJ Abrams directed movie will open with a severed hand of a Jedi Knight which happens to be holding a lightsaber. As it tumbles through space, it will be found on a desert planet by two young individuals and they will then embark on a journey to return the weapon to its rightful owner.
"Their quest takes them off world, and they meet up with Han Solo and Chewbacca, who aren't flying around in the Millenium Falcon anymore but are piloting... well, that could be a spoiler. I'll leave it. Anyway, Han and Chewie recognize the light saber as Luke's, and they say they haven't seen their friend in thirty years, since the events of Return of the Jedi," summarized the website.
For those who want to grab a copy of "Tarkin" it will be made available beginning Nov. 4. To pre-order, click here.
