'Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice' Release Date, Cast & Trailer: Wonder Woman a Demi-God

By Staff Reporter| Oct 15, 2014

More information on Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman character in "Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice" has been shared with eager audiences.

According to IGN, producer Charles Roven confirmed that the female superhero has powerful origins during an interview for the "Hollywood Masters" at the Loyola Marymount School of Film and TV.

"Wonder Woman is in it, we know that. She has powers, she's a goddess, right? She's a half - she is a demigod. Her father was Zeus," said Roven of her backstory.

According to Movie Pilot, "In the New 52 comics, Wonder Woman is the offspring of Queen Hippolyta of the Amazons & Zeus, king of the Gods." It goes on to note that the life of Diana Prince (Wonder Woman) is in danger as Hera, "wants to track down and kill the young Amazon girl."

Entertainment Weekly wrote that, "It's unclear to what extent the Zeus backstory will factor into a movie that already has to introduce new versions of Batman, Lex Luthor, and possibly Aquaman, plus finding some time for Lois Lane to do something."

The site added that the move suggests "Warner Bros. is looking at Wonder Woman as the Thor of their DC megafranchise, with a solo movie focusing on her mythological backstory."

Gal Gadot is an Israeli actress who starred in action franchise, "The Fast and The Furious." Gadot's portrayal of Wonder Woman is one that has been questioned by many given her slim frame, which is in contrast to the realistic physique of an Amazonian woman.

To prepare for the role, Gadot has bee undergoing a number of training regimens to achieve the body needed for the role.

As a teaser to fans, during July's San Diego Comic-Con panel, director Zack Snyder revealed the first look of Gadot in the upcoming film.

One person who had mixed thoughts on the costume was original Wonder Woman actress Lynda Carter who spoke to Access Hollywood, noted Batman-News.

While she noted she is a fan of Gal and is supportive of her upcoming role, she's waiting to see how the character will turn out.

"Well, I was missing the red, white and blue, I have to say... I don't know. I haven't seen it yet, so I really can't comment. Maybe there's a lot more color in it than what we saw in the picture. It's almost impossible to play a superhero anyway. You can't. You just have to play a character that happens to do these amazing things."

Catch Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill heat up the big screen when "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" hits theaters in 2016.
