Mac Mini 2014 Release Date, Price & Rumors: Why Apple Could Skip October Upgrade
Have you heard the news? Apple is organizing an event this month! Here's what we can expect of the event: Last month's launch of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus would probably be followed by a showcase of the newest versions of the iPad air and iPad Mini. Rumors are also circulating that it will show off its OS X Yosemite operating system for its desktop.
But wait, there's more! Website Autoomobile said that there had been speculations that one of the highlights of the event is the new Mac Mini which has never been updated for almost two years now. The Mac Mini is known as Apple's smallest desktop Mac.
Autoomobile said that the rumors started when a computer store in Belgium leaked some information about the device. Rumors said that the new device will be available with a possible i7 Intel processor. This, however, has never been confirmed by Apple.
The site also noted that the new Mac Mini 2014 will come with the newest technology and features Apple has created and developed recently. It is also expected to be a "better performer" with its faster speed.
However, AirHerald reported that the new device won't push through as the new Intel processors won't be available by spring.
MacWorld said that Apple had to delay the upgrade of the Mac Mini as it is still waiting for Intel to ship its new chips. The report also said that Intel's chief executive Brian Krzanich said that the Broadwell systems would be available by Christmas.
MacWorld also noted that the new Mac Mini is expected to have a new design, but it is still not clear as to how it would really look like. It is also expected that the new Mac Mini would be smaller in dimension and may weigh less. Currently, Mac Mini is 3.6 cm high, 19.7 cm wide, and it weighs 1.22 kg.
It is also expected that the new Mac Mini would get an upgrade on its processor and memory. MacWorld said that an entry-level Mac Mini currently has a 2.5 GHz dual-core processor with 4GB RAM and 500GB hard drive.
Another upgrade being eyed is the upgrade of its WiFi. Despite the upgrades being looked into, MacWorld said that Apple may retain its price.
The event will be held at the Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California on October 16. Tech geeks and consumers are also looking forward to an iMac or a MacBook Air which has a Retina display and an updated Apple TV.
