'Stars Wars: Episode 7' Release Date, Cast and Trailer: Robert Downey Jr. Talks Movie Appearance
Though recent spoilers about the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode 7" movie has thrilled fans, many Robert Downey Jr. fans may feel down upon hearing their favorite superhero deny his cameo rumors in the sci-fi flick.
It was during an Entertainment Tonight interview with Mario Lopez that speculations of the "Iron Man" star to appear in the latest "Star Wars" installment was brought up.
As a response, the Hollywood A-lister's cleared that the cameo role was not offered to him, but he could have accepted it if it was. This then confirms that he won't be in "Star Wars: Episode 7."
These cast rumors emerged last month along with other big stars in the mix such as Samuel L. Jackson and Hugh Jackman.
Rumors have it that the three actors will portray unrevealed roles in the famed George Lucas franchise. They were invited to the Pinewood Studios along with another actor Nick Frost, reported Mirror UK.
However it was speculated that during the visit, some of them hid their faces not just to maintain the secrecy of the installment from fans, but also to avoid breaching their existing contracts.
Even Daniel Craig was rumored to have begged J.J. Abrams to land him even just a small role in the sci-fi movie, especially because the James Bond actor is a major fan of "Star Wars."
Among all mentioned actors, it's Samuel Jackson alone who had a shot in the past to star in the trilogy. He portrayed the character of Jedi Master Mace Windu.
On the other hand, Metro made an interesting investigation on the logic behind the rumored casting. Robert Downey Jr. has worked with Disney on Marvel's "Iron Man" movie series. Hugh Jackman has just finished filming the live action version of "Peter Pan" as Captain Hook while Nick Frost and Daniel Craig have both worked for Steven Spielberg's "The Adventures of Tintin" movie.
If the cameos turn out to be true, then they will be instrumental to drawing more attention to the highly anticipated flick.
On the other hand, it is also possible that their rumored trip to the production set is simply a visit like what Tom Cruise also did several months ago. The "Mission: Impossible" actor, via his spokesperson, has denied the cameo role rumor.
The "Star Wars: Episode 7" cast include Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Lupita Nyong'o, Andy Serkis, Oscar Isaac and a lot more. It is slated for a December 18, 2015 release date and fans are still looking forward to its first official trailer.
