Walking Dead Season 5 Release Date & Spoilers: New Trailer, Premiere Photos, Producers Hint at New Villain for Season 5
Season 5 of AMC's The Walking Dead is almost upon us, with it's premiere being just a little more than a week away. Stars gathered recently on the red carpet for the official Hollywood premiere of the new season at Universal Studios. While there some cast members dropped some interesting hints about what to expect for the upcoming season.
Premiere
The cast all cleaned themselves up for the event at Universal and what a difference it made. Many of the actors were nearly unrecognizable in their red carpet attire. Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie Greene on the show, said of getting dressed up, "I really appreciate it, but I think I only appreciate it this much because I really like the death and the filth, and all that stuff. If I was doing this every two weeks, it wouldn't really be that great."
Season 5 Spoilers (Caution, Spoilers Ahead)
Norman Reedus (aka Daryl Dixon) recently hinted that the upcoming season could involve Daryl's love life being a focal point. And while no one knows who the lucky lady/guy/zombie might be, fellow star Emily Kinney intimated that there might be "something really special" between her character and Daryl. So who knows.
Reedus also promised that the zombie kills in Season 5 would be some of the best the show's ever had. Certain clips and trailers have already revealed zombies exploding in spectacular fashion, so, hopefully there's more of that to come.
Many are also wondering if Negan, the infamous villain from comic on which the show is based, will finally make his appearance in Season 5. According to the Comic-Con panel this year, the producers claimed that they would be following the comic story line closely, and if that's the case Negan should appear and he will most likely kill one of the main cast members.
Those who have read the comics know that Negan ultimately kills Glenn as punishment for acts committed by Rick and his group during a conflict with Negan's group, the Saviors. Some have speculated that a scene similar to Glen's death in the comic has been briefly shown in the trailer for season 5.
For a brief moment, Glen is seen gagged, and behind him you see someone wind up with a baseball bat, preparing to strike. This is essentially how Glen dies in the comic, so perhaps fans will get to see Negan this season after all.
