HTC One M8 Eye Release Date, Specs & Features: Leak Photo Reveals Juicy Details of Selfie Phone
Oct. 8 is just around the corner, but an alleged image of the HTC One M8 Eye has already surfaced shortly before the expected launch date. The 13MP One M8 Eye was reported by Tech Times to appear as an official press image on Weibo. The link to the web post no longer works, but the accompanying image has been saved by many sources.
According to Phone Arena, the One M8 Eye was rumored to be a version of the earlier HTC One M8--only that the 4MP UltraPixel Duo camera is replaced by a 13MP version. Latinos Post reported earlier that the HTC One M8 is the company's first Windows smartphone released after two years.
President of the HTC Americas Jason Mackenzie said, "Microsoft shares our vision, and that's why we committed to bringing the Windows Phone platform to the HTC One M8". The Windows version also came as a shock as it was half the price of its Android predecessor.
In addition, Trusted Reviews reported that the Duo camera will assist on image focusing and low-light shooting. The handset could sport a slightly larger 5.2-inch display, contrary to the 5.0-inch of the recently released One M8. Yet other rumors argue that the 5.0-inch display is retained for the new model.
The name "Eye" was noted by GSM Arena to come from a tweet by prominent leaker @upleaks.
Rumored specs of the One M8 Eye include a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, Sense-d Android 4.4.4 KitKat, 5 or 5.2 inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD display, 2 GB of RAM, 4G LTE and BoomSound speakers. Tech Times noted in another report that the handset may have an ultra-sharp 8MP front camera, which will obviously give room for sharper-looking selfies.
While the talk on the One M8 Eye is heating up, Digital Trends reported that a separate "HTC Eye" handset (without the One M8) could come on the same event. This rumored model was reported to be the "ultimate selfie phone," potentially matching HTC Desire 820's specs.
Yet again, GSM Arena noted in another report that an "action camera" from HTC is also allegedly coming out.
Counting the numbers, it seems that HTC will be unveiling the One M8 Eye, the HTC Eye and a certain "action camera."
The Oct. 8 event was officially titled "Double Exposure." Happening in New York, NDTV reported that it will likely hold "something camera-specific"--hence, only speculations can be made for the meantime.
