Jason Derulo & Jordin Sparks: 'American Idol' Star Moving On?
After the shocking news of the Jason Derulo and Jordin Sparks split, the former "American Idol" champ finally speaks out on the "Today" show.
The 24-year-old singer did not show any hesitation in answering questions thrown at her by hosts, Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb during the September 29 episode of "Today."
She mentioned her strategy of coping up with her breakup from the "Talk Dirty" singer and assured everyone that she is doing well. The "Battlefield" singer compared the unexpected turn in her life as a "plot twist" which she only has to smoothly move on from. According to Hollywood Life, she learned it from a recent book she read.
Aside from the positive outlook the young singer has been showing everyone, Sparks also talked about her new movie and how she's been spending a lot of time on songwriting.
On the other hand, Derulo also cleared up matters about the truth behind their breakup. Due to numerous false rumors and gossip that have been circulating around since his split with Sparks, the "Watchasay" singer is forced to go beyond keeping their privacy and spilled more details about their recent troubles through ABC News.
He made it crystal clear that there was no third party involved and that neither of them committed any cheating while they were still a couple.
Then during his interview for the "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" radio show, he compared their relationship with the ordinary kind, which suffers from ups and downs at certain times along the way.
Derulo admitted that they experienced arguments even if they seem to be one happy celebrity couple. It reportedly came to a point when the good parts of their partnership were already outweighed by the bad, the singer added.
The 25-year-old singer-dancer also shared how he was sort of pressured with Sparks wanting to get married, while he was not ready yet. He was quick to emphasize though that it was just one of the other reasons of the entire breakup. And to call things fair, the pressure he felt was not completely from his ex-girlfriend alone but also from the people around them.
It was last year when engagement rumors about the former couple started spreading around. It was apparently triggered by the release of Derulo's music video for "Marry Me" which showed him proposing to his then real life girlfriend.
Even though both Jason Derulo and Jordin Sparks seem to be too positive to be put down by a broken heart, a possible reconciliation is still unlikely to happen.
It could be safe to say that they are not in speaking terms yet, but they both agree to remain as good friends.
The two were last spotted as a couple during the recent MTV Video Music Awards on August 24.
