'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Trailer & Cast: Dakota Johnson's Racy Role Causes Family Fight?
Dakota Johnson's biggest break in her career--her Anastasia Steele role in the upcoming "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie adaptation, might be envied by most actresses in the industry today. However, rumors of tension and disapproval among some of her family members prove to be the downside of her celebrated victory.
Dakota's dad, Hollywood legend Don Johnson, openly admitted that he will not watch his daughter's biggest movie to date.
The 64-year-old veteran actor explained that he's not turning it down due to the erotic content but because it is simply something that does not spark his interest. He further told Telegraph that the film adaptation belongs to a movie category he is reportedly not fond of watching.
But her dad isn't the only one boycotting the film. The 24-year-old actress' grandmother, Tippi Hedren, who is another icon in the entertainment industry, has also been vocal of her disinterest in catching the movie once it hits the big screen in February 2015.
The 84-year-old actress, who once starred in the Hitchcock movie "The Birds," told The Hollywood Reporter that she feels "upset" about Dakota being in the raunchy movie. She added that she understands how her former son-in-law is feeling about it. As for her own opinion, she would only go as far as seeing the official trailer.
But the case is different for Hedren's daughter, Melanie Griffith, who is Dakota's mom. According to an Express UK source, the "Crazy in Alabama" lead star is sad that she is the only one who seems to be supportive of her daughter's decision in accepting the naïve yet steamy role of Anastasia Steele.
It was added by a family friend that the 57-year-old actress thinks no one in the family is in the position to tell the young "Fifty Shades of Grey" lead actress what roles to take and what roles to pass up.
According to Griffith, it was Dakota who insisted that they should not see "Fifty Shades of Grey." She admitted having seen the Red Room of Pain when she visited Dakota during one of the shooting days of the adaptation, reported Indiewire.
However, despite this, there are rumors saying that Dakota is simply showing a brave façade. She is actually feeling hurt with most of her family members not interested to catch her highly anticipated movie.
To make things more interesting, Dakota's stepdad, Antonio Banderas, once mentioned with Yahoo Movies UK his thoughts on his stepdaughter being Anastasia Steele.
Banderas admitted that he has no right to judge Dakota's choice of grabbing the controversial role for he himself has done a similar work in the past. If there's one thing he is sure of, it is the belief that his stepdaughter is a smart and good actress, he said via Yahoo Movies UK.
He also said that he will watch the erotic adaptation and give a fair judgment when the right time comes around.
The "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie also stars Jamie Dornan, Rita Ora, Luke Grimes, Eloise Mumford, Victor Rasuk, Max Martini, Dylan Neal and Marcia Gay Harden.
