Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. Fight: Pacman Responds; Says Money's Acting Like an 'Uneducated Person'
Manny Pacquiao responded to Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s social media taunt, and the Pacman came up with what could be his most feisty comment yet: "He acts like an uneducated person."
Perhaps addressing a Facebook status by Mayweather, which shows photos of him lying on the canvass, Pacquiao told GMA News, in a mix of Tagalog and English: "I am not angry... I pity him because he acts like an uneducated person and it's ugly."
The status' text reads: "My new boxing DVD is coming soon and is called '3 Ways to Sleep'. Back, Face and Butt and I'm Falling & I Can't Get Up," it said. "Miss Pac Man is broke and desperate for a pay day. Your Pay-Per-View numbers are a joke."
With under 50 words, Mayweather was able to hit Pacquiao's decline on multiple fronts. But perhaps it was not the right time to vent out his disappointment toward the eight-division champ because he had to address the issue on the Philippine evening news show "24 Oras" (24 Hours) and during the dedication of his youngest son, Israel.
"He (Mayweather) should fear God," Pacquiao said, as quoted by the Philippine Daily Inquirer. He also added a Bible verse: "For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?"
"I'm praying for him," GMA News quoted the Filipino boxer as saying, too, noting that the two titans have been exchanging blows on social media and interviews, instead of agreeing to face each other on the ring in 12 rounds of surely historic boxing.
According to Examiner, the online firestorm began when Pacquiao questioned the Money's credibility on Twitter, riding on the latest issue to hit him.
Mayweather had to testify to the Nevada State Athletic Commission regarding the scenes from Showtime's reality series "All Access." He claimed that the unsafe training conditions and the use of marijuana in his Las Vegas residence, among others, were staged and used only to promote his fight against Marcos Maidana, ABS-CBN.com explained.
Days after Pacquiao's tweet, Mayweather came out with his reply.
According to TMZ, Pacquiao is now following the line of argument first taken by rappers 50 Cent and Nelly, bashing Mayweather for not finishing formal education. It cited as evidence, another interview, this time with NJ.com, released earlier in September.
"I think I finally understand him ... and I don't like it," Pacquiao said in the interview. "But what l learned and heard from him, well, I realize why he is like that. I understand sometimes when the people are not educated they just talk to talk. He sets a very bad example."
Mayweather, 37, recently scored his 47th win, edging out Argentinian Maidana. Meanwhile, Pacquiao, 56-5, is training for a world title fight with the undefeated American Chris Algieri later this year in Macau.
Talks of a megafight have resurfaced recently, with some putting the match in May 2015, but both players have yet to admit it.
