iPhone 6 Price With and Without Contract in the US and UK: How Big Is The Price Difference?
After months of leaks, rumors and speculations, the iPhone 6 and the larger iPhone 6 Plus were announced on Sept. 9. A mere 10 days after launching, both models of the iPhone were released for sale to 10 territories on Friday, Sept. 19.
After reportedly being sold-out via pre-orders on Friday, Sept. 12, the phones were made available in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico and Singapore, noted Trusted Reviews.
These 10 were the first to get their hands on the highly-coveted devices. Heading for a more comprehensive release later in year, Apple has confirmed that the devices will be made available in 115 countries by the end of 2014.
According to the Daily Mirror UK, "Pre-orders began on Friday, and the iPhone 6 Plus sold out almost instantly. It's currently showing a 3-4 week delivery estimate - but the 4.7″ iPhone 6 is still available with delivery in 7-10 working days."
The iPhone models come in three colors - Silver, Gold and Gray - which users can choose from. Unlike earlier models, while there are still three GB capacities, they've doubled the capacity making the options 16, 64 and 128 GB.
The standard iPhone 6 starts at $199 and $299 for the iPhone 6 Plus. The 64 GB option jumps by $100 making it $299 and $399, respectively. For the last and largest GB capacity, prices are $399 and $499. All quoted prices come with a two-year contract.
The Epoch Times reported that for those looking at contract-free iPhones, T-Mobile is said to be offering phones at $649 for the iPhone 6 and $749 for the iPhone 6 Plus. The prices will then goes up by $100 per GB capacity level increase.
In the UK, unlocked devices carry the following prices. The iPhone 6 starts at £539 for the 16 GB model, £619 and the 128GB mode is £699, per MacWorld. The larger 5.5-inch begins at £619, £699 and a offers the 128 GB at £789.
For a 24 month contract, the prices become subsidized with Mirror UK outlining the packages of networks.
According to reports, India has pushed back it's sale date to November from an earlier announced Sept. 27 and Oct. 17 release. Other Asian countries can expect their iPhones around the same timeline, hopefully before the holiday season.
