'Samsung Galaxy S6' Release Date, Specs & Features: Top 5 Upgrades We Want to See
Now that we've seen what Apple's got with its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models, all eyes are on Samsung as the company is slated to release the next generation of its flagship line, the Samsung Galaxy S.
With the mobile industry being as dynamic as it is, following the usual time frame of Samsung, the upgraded Samsung Galaxy S6 is expected to hit the shelves sometime in the first quarter of 2015.
Given that the S5 was an upgrade from its predecessor, the Galaxy S4, the sales of the device didn't really meet expectations, according to reports.
Below is a list of the top 5 features that would greatly improve the form, function and performance of the smartphone.
Design - Samsung has shown audiences that it can release a premium designed phone. Using the Alpha's metal unibody, TechRadar noted how "a premium feel would be a potential crowd pleaser. If a redesign is on the cards, why not take it further and go for a new form factor? A new premium profile could refresh the range and make it feel special again."
Display - 1080p is a thing of the past. Rumors are abound that Samsung is looking to boost displays to 2K and 4K for smartphones, recalls TechRadar. With LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 already sporting a 2K screen, audiences expect at least the same for the S6.
Battery - Samsung has been pointing out its superior battery life as opposed to Apple. Christian Today reports that the S6 could bring a 30 per cent more efficient battery performance. If this is true, that would be well-received. Some even say the new smartphone will pack a 4000mAH lithium ion battery.
Processor - With increased graphics and software, the processor needs to be able to keep up and allow seamless multi-tasking. The Galaxy S6 is said to be looking at packing a boosted Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 or 810 processor with 64-bit architecture. We would expect no less than a 4GB RAM, which would elevate it to one of the most powerful devices in the market. The S6 is also expected to come pre-loaded with the Android 5.0 L system.
Bloatware - Compared to Apple, Samsung likes its add on softwares. KnowYourMobile suggests to "Get rid of them." Recognizing that this isn't going to happen, "a mass-scaling back of Samsung's proprietary UX and all the guff that comes with it."
We'll find out more about what Samsung will have in store for its next-generation phone, hopefully in the first quarter of 2015.
