MTV EMA 2014 Nominees & Voting: Iggy Azalea, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande & More [See Complete List Here]
Get ready to click, as MTV just announced the official list of nominees for this year's MTV Europe Music Awards. Votes can now be cast for your favorite singer (and song) on the official website. The countdown to the big day has started but everybody still has much time to think who deserves what.
The competition seems fierce, with Katy Perry in the lead for having 7 nominations. The "Dark Horse" pop singer has hosted the same event twice.
Ariana Grande is also making news. It can be recalled that the "Problem" singer participated in the 2013 Amsterdam show as backstage host. Ariana got 6 nominations.
MTV EMA shared that the two bonded so well that they just might be in for a friendly competition.
Five nominations are bestowed to "Despicable Me 2" anthem singer Pharrell Williams and 5 Seconds of Summer. Meanwhile, Eminem, Iggy Azalea, Sam Smith, Kiesza, One Direction and Nicki Minaj all achieved 4 nominations in different categories.
Let's take a peek at this year's battle ground highlights:
"Dark Horse" (Katy Perry feat. Juicy J), "The Monster" (Eminem feat. Rihanna), "Problem" (Ariana Grande feat. Iggy Azalea), "Happy" (Pharrell Williams) and "Stay With Me" (Sam Smith) will all vie for the Best Song title.
Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj will battle for Best Female. Ed Sheeran, Eminem, Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Williams compete for Best Male.
Even fans will have to battle for the Biggest Fans award. Fans of 5 Seconds Of Summer, Ariana Grande's "Arianators," Justin Bieber's "Beliebers," One Directioners and Nicki Minaj's "Barbz" will fight for the title.
These titles are just some of the 17 categories which will be awarded on the event date. Other artists nominated for various categories are Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, Charli XCX, Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, Lana Del Rey, Lorde, Paramore, Thirty Seconds to Mars and the list goes on.
This year's EMA will also be special as MTV allowed fans from all around the world to select their local EMA nominees. Cheryl wins for UK, as reported by MTV UK. She joins One Direction, Calvin Harris, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran in the Best UK & Ireland Act category.
Whoever wins will enter the Best Worldwide Category, competing with regions all over the globe. The final nominee for the Best US Act is Fifth Harmony.
The big day happens in Glasgow, Scotland on November 9.
