Gwyneth Paltrow vs Martha Stewart: Goop Founder to Host Dinner & Reception for Obama After Diss
Oscar-winning actress, Gwyneth Paltrow, will be hosting a fundraiser event for President Barack Obama in her L.A. home next month, a report from People confirms.
The news comes after the scathing remarks of Martha Stewart, regarding the film star's non-movie activities.
Stewart, 75, had a lot of things to say in a recent interview with Net-aPorter's Porter Magazine. According to E! News, Stewart criticized the expanding ventures of the Goop founder, Paltrow, that are not related to movie-making.
"She just needs to be quiet. She's a movie star," Stewart reportedly said in the issue. "If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn't be trying to be Martha Stewart."
No response or comments have been released from Paltrow's camp but her upcoming prestigious hosting event couldn't have come at a timelier moment.
The 41-year-old actress's fundrasing affair will include a reception and dinner that will feature Obama taking questions from the guests. The event, planned by the Democratic National Committee, will be held on October 9, with seats ranging from $1,000 to $32,400 per head, The Hollywood Reporter revealed.
This isn't the first time Paltrow has shown support to the President. Back in 2012, Radar Online recalled how the actress hosted a fundraiser activity at a posh and exclusive London club.
Other Stars Blasted
Apparently, Gwyneth isn't the only Hollywood star Stewart seems to have a problem with.
In a report by PageSix, here are three more celebs who were not spared from Stewart and her camp's brutally honest comments.
1) Blake Lively - The "Gossip Girl" star has put up her own lifestyle site, Preserve. According to Kevin Sharkey, Stewart's Vice President, "I don't get the sense she's credible. She's enthusiastic, but she's not credible."
2) Sheryl Sandberg - Stewart also disagrees with Sandberg's views in her book, "Lean In." PageSix quoted Stewart's statement, which read, "Too much time is spent . . . Isn't 'leaning in' spending a lot of time? . . . I think being entrepreneurial is something women should strive for, rather than working up the corporate ladder."
3) Taylor Schilling - Since Stewart served jail time in 2004, she was not hesitant to express her dismay on the hit show, "Orange is the New Black" and its lead star. She said, "They could have done that so much better. That girl is not good enough, the lead actress."
