iPhone 6 Sept. 9 Event: Start Time, Live Stream Info, Plus What to Expect

By Jonathan Moore| Sep 05, 2014

The iPhone 6 is almost here. Apple will launch it's new vision for mobile handsets this Tuesday alongside it's first wearable device which many have dubbed the 'iWatch.' The event will be held next Tuesday morning on Sept. 9 in Cupertino, California. Apple has decided to unveil the iPhone 6 at the Flint Center, the same place it announced its first Mac computer nearly 30 years ago. While plenty of purported iPhone 6 components and mockups have leaked, there are still plenty of questions to be answered Tuesday.

What: iPhone 6, iWatch Announcement

When: Tuesday, Sept. 9

Where: Flint Center, Cupertino, CA

Watch: Apple will livestream the event here

Apple will live stream the event on its own website, so be sure to click the link above to watch on Tuesday. The keynote presentation will begin at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET.

A note for those who are intending to stream the event live: you'll need Safari 5.1.10 or later running on OS X 10.6.8 or later. Got that? And if you are streaming on your iOS device, you'll need to have iOS 6 or iOS 7 in order to watch the event that way. Apple TV users will need either the second or third generation Apple TV.

Typically, Apple holds its fall iPhone event at Moscone West each year, so by returning to the site of the first Mac announcement Apple must feel Tuesday's announcement is going to be relatively special.

Apple is expected to unveil two different iPhone 6 models next week, a 4.7-inch version and a 5.5-inch version. This will the first time Apple has ever released two iPhones at the same time that had different size screens. The 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is also Apple's first attempt at a 'phablet,' (large phone or small tablet) most likely to compete directly with Samsung's successful Galaxy Note line of giant smart phones.

The so-called 'iWatch' is also set to make its debut on Tuesday, though it is widely reported that the mysterious wearable device won't be available until sometime next year. For more coverage on all the new Apple products launching this fall check back with us soon.
