'The Expendables 3' 2014 Cast, Trailer & Song: Wesley Snipes Served With 'Legal Papers' During Premiere
Just when everyone thought that action star Wesley Snipes is free from any legal problems, recent reports say that he was served a new batch of legal papers during the actual red carpet premiere event of "The Expendables 3."
According to Design N Trend, the 52-year-old actor was on his way to attend an after-party event when he received a summons for him to attend a debtor's examination.
The court documents were reported to have a part of the statement saying that the actor "may be subject to arrest and punishment for contempt of court, and the court may take an order requiring [him] to pay reasonable attorney fees incurred by the judgment creditor in this proceeding."
The veteran actor, known for the hit film "Blade," spent three years in prison after being convicted of tax evasion. But this dark moment in the actor's life did not stop "The Expendables" brainchild, Sylvester Stallone, from getting him to portray a major character in the third movie installment of the franchise.
Now Snipes' current legal problems allegedly involve him owing Sitrick & Company a considerable amount of money. It is for "failure to pay fees associated with work the group did when the actor was facing felony tax evasion charges," according to the PR firm.
For the actor to put an end to his troubles, he must be able to come up with $103,000, The Inquisitr said.
If Wesley would agree to pay the reported amount of money, then he might not have too much of a problem - with money coming in from "The Expendables 3." Aside from this acting stint, he is also rumored to make a comeback in a possible fourth installment of "Blade." Snipes could make around $3 million if the fourth movie pursues, rumor suggests.
On the other hand, "The Expendables 3" did not reach an all time high at the box office as it only garnered around $84 million worldwide. There were some fans of the movie franchise who believe that its PG-13 censorship worked against the film's shot at another success.
However, Lionsgate attributes the film's lousy earnings to illegal downloading activities.
"The Expendables 3" stars Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li and a lot more. It was shown in theaters on August 15 with "Berzerk" by Eminem as its theme song.
