'Avengers 2: Age of Ultron' Release Date, Cast & Trailer: Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye Won't Die in Film
While the Avengers are supposedly Earth's mightiest beings, rumors have been stirring that at least one Avenger isn't going to make it past the second installment.
According to Comic Book, "There have been some murmuring from fans that at least one Avenger would likely be killed in Avengers: Age of Ultron, in order to maintain the idea that these characters are in real danger when they come into conflict in these movies."
One hero has spoken out and confirmed that his fate doesn't end in "Age of Ultron." Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye/ Clint Barton spoke to Larry King in an interview and Comic Book quoted the actor as saying, "No man, I don't die. They are going to keep me around for a while."
Entertainment Weekly, via Screen Rant, discussed the possibly of a hero's death in the sequel. Director Joss Whedon explained:
"I'm always joking about that. Um...maybe?... But I'd have to have a really good reason, a really great sequence for [Marvel executives] to go, ‘We'll cut off a potential franchise, that's fine!'"
He continues to discuss the importance of danger and a reality to it. He added that people connect with on-screen characters. "You go to the movies to see people you love suffer-that's why you go to the movies."
New Stills Released
Either way, the movie is in full swing as new still photos of the set have been revealed. The photos were sourced from Empire Online's upcoming October issue.
In one photo, shared by the magazine over Twitter, we see 43-year-old Renner being directed by Joss Whedon.
The photo reveals the modified costume of Renner. He sports a long-trimmed coat that seems to be lighter and easier to move in. The thicker costume may also give a hint about a possible geographical need based on the plot of the film.
Oscar winning designer Alexandra Byrne is the costume development lead for "Age of Ultron." She's a Marvel regular who's also done work on other franchise movies like "Guardians of the Galaxy," "Thor" and the earlier "The Avengers," descirbed Screen Rant.
Tune in for the full interview with Renner when it airs on "Larry King Live" on October 6. Maybe it'll let us in on when a trailer will drop along with a few more spoilers.
See Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans reprise their roles in the sequel. The "Avengers" sequel, titled "Avengers: Age of Ultron" hits theaters May 1, 2015.
