Jay-Z & Beyonce Debut 'On The Run Tour' Trailer for Upcoming HBO Event

For those of us who couldn't afford the high priced Jay-Z and Beyoncé "On the Run Tour," fear not, for the concert is coming to HBO. A new trailer released by HBO is the first promotion of an outrageously talented duo, and what viewers can hope to expect from the special presentation. With more than 40 songs and two and half hours of straight preforming, this special HBO event is a must see.

Amidst rumors of a speculated divorce, Jay-Z and Beyoncé looked happier than ever as the couple attended the VMA's. However, one can't help but watch the HBO trailer and read between the lines. Originally written by Sonny Bono in 1966, the song "Bang Bang" paints the picture of an abusive relationship where the spouse seems to be domineering and unsupportive.

Jay-Z is sitting back in his chair, puffing on one of his iconic cigars as Beyoncé fittingly serenades the rap star with a melancholy ode of illicit regret. The mood is very tense in the trailer, which is counteracted by the actual live footage of the tour. The conflicting tones appear to be an odd mixture, but overall it just depends on how much you want to read into the unspoken themes.

Aside from their personal life, Jay-Z and Beyoncé received mass critical acclaim for their tour, which had some reporters calling it the greatest act they had ever seen. MTV News editor Rebecca Thomas said, "egos aside: They toggled, repeatedly, and mostly seamlessly from one megastar catalog to the other and took fan-favorites in surprising new directions - ones that imbued them with pathos that hadn't been there before."

Jay-Z and Beyoncé preformed new versions of songs that previously had always been preformed one way. Their duo hits, like "Bonnie and Clyde," were crowd favorites as the entertainers could be seen feeding off one another's energy.

HBO is going to film Sept. 12-13 during the couple's performance in France. HBO will then air the special Sept. 20, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT). Even if you were able to attend the concert, HBO is always able to get the best possible shots of a concert. This is definitely must see TV.
