Kobe Bryant Stats, Contract & News: 'Muse' Documentary Trailer Released
Why would you want a forgettable season immortalized? We do not know for sure, but that's what Kobe Bryant will be doing this coming fall for a Showtime documentary.
What is known is that Bryant had a good Saturday, Fansided said. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar did not only celebrate his birthday but also released the trailer of his "Kobe Bryant's Muse," it added.
The 50-second trailer makes the documentary a "must watch", For The Win said. The docu, with exact airing date not set yet, covers his 2013-2014 season, it added. In Bryant's world, "muse" stands for "inspiration," Sports Illustrated explained.
"We can always just be average or do what's normal," Bryant says in the trailer directed by Gotham Chopra, "I'm not in this to do what's normal. It's a decision you've got to make if you want to accomplish anything that's significant and have a serious impact. You've got to make those sacrifices. You have to make that choice."
"I made that choice a long time ago," he adds. "'Cause we all have shit that we go through. We all have things that, obstacles that are in our way at some point or another. We all have doubt. But we chose. We chose."
The "Black Mamba," 36, can be seen dribbling and shooting the ball inside an empty gym, with the sound of the ambient air-conditioning system, the ball and the heavy breathing amped up. Together wth the grayscale filter, the treatment is raw and somewhat melancholic.
The clip contains all that differentiates Bryant from all the rest, Pro Basketball Talk said, explaining that the drive, attitude toward work and the determination place him head and shoulders above the rest.
That trailer basically summarizes what Bryant is, CBS Sports agreed. However, it hopes that the film will not only capture that choice--the report calls it an "obsession"--but also its cost and how the "fascinating figure" feels about the path he had taken.
Lakers Nation said we can be sure that the documentary will feature sensible insights from his visit to China, plus discussions on his leadership and evolving game. Another report from the same site said he signed a two-year, $48.5-million contract last year but his injuries are plaguing him.
According to Fansided, it's good to look into how "the injured and aging" Bryant experienced the past NBA season of just six games, when the only team he wore a jersey for won merely 27 games and lost a whopping 55, the most losses in the franchise's history, per ESPN.
The ESPN report did say Bryant had fears about what retirement would be like. If a hero's fear won't lure you in, we don't know what will.
