Walking Dead Season 5 Update: New Teaser Trailer, Cast Rumors, Season Premiere & Mid-Season Finale Schedule Revealed
As Season 5 of The Walking Dead draws closer to its debut on Oct. 12 at 9 p.m. ET, on AMC, a new teaser trailer and likely episode schedule have appeared online. The teaser, which is just a few seconds long, showcases all the action and terror we've come to expect from the series, but it's so short it's hard to come to any explanation of what's going on.
What you can see is terror on Darryl's face as well as a bunch of soldier types with gas masks on. The feeling you get is that the early episodes are going to be high impact.
Also, some deleted scenes from last season have popped up, which may be part of the package that will come with the release of The Walking Dead Season 4 on DVD. For this upcoming season, however, the shows would reportedly air on consecutive Sunday's beginning on Oct. 12, with the midseason mark possibly coming on Nov. 30, reports the Ibtimes.com. Those air dates would result in an eight-episode arch and also mirror how the last season of the show was broken down.
"We always have one sort of overarching arc," show producer Gale Anne Hurd was quoted as saying about the show. "There are distinct natural ends to particular arcs," she said about the show's solid storytelling. She added that the story arcs generally come at midseason and pick up again near the winter. That's probably one way the show keeps fans wanting more.
One of the potential rumors at play right now for the upcoming season--according to the website Spoiling Dead--is that Scott Wilson, who plays Hershel Greene, was reportedly on the set during recent shooting in Atlanta for the upcoming season. There's no telling how the character of Hershel, who was killed last season, will be used. He did make several flashback appearances toward the end of last season, giving wisdom to Rick Grimes.
And for fans who want a dose of last season, season 4 will be out on DVD Aug. 26, and there will also be a a limited edition "Tree Walker" Blu-ray package that includes five discs with bonus footage. To tease this release, a lengthy deleted scene from the episode "The Grove", has made its way online.
