50 Cent Challlenges Floyd Mayweather to New ALS Challenge: Prove You Can Read, I'll Donate $750k [With Video]
Rapper 50 Cent challenged boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr, this week, taunting him for his reading skills and asking that he take a reading challenge that involved Harry Potter. The rapper made this offer, a special version of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, but he added ESL, or English as a Second Language to the challenge name.
50 Cent posted the challenge in a short video on Instagram and offered to donate $750,000 to charity. You can see the video below.
All Mayweather would have to do is read one page from a Harry Potter novel, according to 50 Cent. He added that talk show host Jimmy Kimmel would allow Mayweather to read on his show, if he accepted the challenge.
"We don't want to put pressure on you," 50 Cent said. He said that he would allow him to read "Cat in the Hat" if he couldn't pronounce the words in the "Potter" books.
Complex.com shared a recording from a morning radio show that shared Mayweather reading a prepared announcement on their show to prove that maybe the undefeated boxing champ has a little trouble reading.
Although the rapper and the champion boxer have had so-called beef in the past, their feud was reignited when the rapper T.I. got into an altercation with Mayweather earlier this summer, with rumors suggesting that it was over T.I.'s wife, Tiny.
However, more recently, Mayweather made a public comment about how rappers like 50 Cent are no longer relevant, which upset the rapper and leading him to make the challenge soon after.
"I will donate $750k to a charity of your choice, If you can read a full page out of a Harry Potter book out loud without starting and stopping....lmao," 50 Cent wrote on Instagram.
Mayweather will next take on Marcos Maidana for his 47th career fight. Here's a look at the Instagram video that sparked the challenge.
