Robin Williams in 'World of Warcraft' & Next 'The Legend of Zelda?’ Fans Want Actor in Games
Gamers could see the late actor in the said games as a non-playable character.
According to several reports, fans are taking the act of paying tribute to a whole new level by creating an online petition for Robin Williams to be in "World of Warcraft" and the next game in "The Legend of Zelda" series.
IGN reported that an online petition on Change.org successfully called out to Blizzard Entertainment, the makers of "World of Warcraft," and Activision to create a Robin Williams NPC.
"Because of his presence within our community, we the players of World of Warcraft are asking Blizzard to kindly create an NPC within the game that memorializes the actor/comedian. Many have expressed a wish to this character perform some of Williams best jokes within the Worlds End Tavern, so that he may continue making us smile long after his passing," posted Jacob Holgate from Texas.
The online petition garnered 10,975 signatures and effectively caught the game studio's attention.
A tweet from Technical Game Designer, Chadd Nervigg said, "Yes. We're taking care of it," when asked if the game studio has taken notice of the online petition.
In addition to a possible "World of Warcraft" NPC, the late comedian could also make it to the next game of "The Legend of Zelda."
Just like "World of Warcraft" fans, fans of the Nintendo game also took to Change.org to call on "The Legend of Zelda" maker.
The online petition, started by Nick Schaedel from Australia, said that Robin Williams was undeniably an "avid player of video games, with a love for all things Nintendo" to the point of famously naming his daughter after Zelda the princess. Robin and Zelda Williams have also starred in a series of ads for the game franchise.
So what can Nintendo and "The Legend of Zelda" fans do to pay tribute to the late actor?
"Well, there's a new Zelda game on the horizon. A bold reinvention, a fresh new open world adventure for Wii U. I would like to suggest that when the game is localised to English, Nintendo of America and the Treehouse name one of the characters 'Robin' in his memory," the online petition suggested.
Speaking with Polygon thru a representative, Nintendo said of the petition:
"We appreciate the outpouring of support from the gaming community, and hear the request of fans to honor him in a future game. We will not be discussing what might be possible for future games during this difficult time, but we will hold our memories of Robin close."
What do you think of Robin Williams memorialized as a non-playable character in the said games?
