'Captain America 3' Release Date, Plot & Rumors: More Details Revealed by Screenwriters
With the massive success of "Captain America" it's no wonder that a third installment has been lined up. Screenwriters, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, offered up some details on the direction and possible plot of the next flick.
The pair sat down with SFX on Wednesday to promote the DVD release of the "Winter Solider." They spoke about the second film along with some juicy tidbits on "Captain America 3."
Captain America's Character
Discussing how Captain Rogers took on SHIELD, McFeely recalled how "Kevin Feige suggested ‘Well, why don't we just take down SHIELD? And have Cap have a hand in it?' He's one man versus this giant organisation - you're not going to have him drive in with a tank so there's going to be some underhandedness. And suddenly it begins to suggest a political conspiracy."
So, what will be the defining feature of the new film? "Well, that's the challenge! But we are working on something that I think is an amalgalm," said McFeely said on creating an element of change between the different storylines.
This is somewhat synonymous to Anthony and Joe Russo's talk with Yahoo.com earlier. The directorial geniuses recalled how Rogers rose out of a political purpose. The Cap is successful because at the heart of his power is morality. "Although the heart of the movie will be Steve Rogers' complicated relationship with his childhood friend Bucky Barnes, the themes of politics and power will still be in play."
Movie Villains
With the appearance of The Red Skull, the Winter Solider, and the Falcon, the possible inclusion of the Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing [Modok] in the new film was another interesting topic discussed during the SFX interview.
"I don't know if there's anybody that we had in the wings that we couldn't pull off. There are people that I'm always wanting to bring in. I want to put Modok into something, but you can't just drop a giant floating head in! It's not like "Oh, we have to go talk to this guy - there's something I should tell you about him first..." [laughs]," commented McFeely.
"Suddenly the whole movie needs to take on that structure in order to accommodate him. I never win that fight!', he continued.
