Samsung Galaxy S4 News Update: Tech Giant Releases Gold Version to Counter Gold iPhone 5S?
South Korean tech giant Samsung recently released a gold variant of its Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone to battle the gold version of iPhone 5S.
Photos of gold variant of Samsung Galaxy S4 were spotted in various social media of Samsung. Twitter user named SamsungMobileArabia posted a photo of a pink Samsung Galaxy S4 with gold edges with a caption of "Introducing the new #GalaxyS4 Gold Edition - for a style that's uniquely yours!"
Facebook page Samsung Gulf, on the other hand, posted a photo of the same pink and brown Samsung Galaxy S4 with a hint of gold on the edges. According to the post, the devices were the gold brown and gold pink variants of the device.
Samsung's other Twitter and Facebook accounts did not mention such new color options. Thus, we may conclude that these variants are available in Middle East at the moment. However, Samsung's United Arab Emirates website lists the black and white color options of Samsung Galaxy S4.
On September 10, Samsung's rival Apple introduced its flagship phone - iPhone 5S. iPhone 5S is available in three color variants - black, silver and gold. According to reports, Apple sold 9 million units of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C on its opening weekend.
Releasing a gold variant of Samsung Galaxy S4 could be Samsung's attempt to take a bit on Apple's sales.
Samsung Galaxy S4 was released in black mist and white frost color options. Laster, purple mirage became available to Sprint subscribers.
The Galaxy S4 boasts a 5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED screen display; quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A15 and quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7; 13MP rear shooter with dual shot feature; and 2600mAh battery capacity.
The device is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions with expandable storage option via microSD slot. The device was released with 4.2 version of Jelly Bean OS. However, reports claimed that it will soon receive the 4.3 version of OS update.
