The 10 Best Sabado Gigante Moments Ever

By Chad Arias | Aug 01, 2014

For the past 50 years, Sabado Gigante has been that weird show that mom always watched on Saturday nights like clockwork. Being home on a Saturday night meant mom parked in front of the TV, laughing at the antics taking place on that crazy show.

And while we won't necessarily admit to understanding all the crazy antics, it can never be denied that whatever was happening was entertaining, especially for the olds in our house.

In honor of Sabado Gigante, we've assembled a list of some the crazy and bizarre moments that kept us coming back every week.

El Chacal de la Trompeta

Before America's Got Talent, with their "X" button pressing to kick-off bad performers, El Chacal was the nightmare of every would-be signer. El Chacal was hilarious, and the trumpet angle was a humorous way to send off the loser.

Don Francisco

We want to take a moment of silence, because with Don Francisco in the room, it will never happen again. Francisco has one volume level, and that level is loud. It's a wonder how he can keep it up for three hours.

"Mommy, why is Don Francisco always yelling?"

Don Francisco con los Ninos

The children segments are always humorous on Sabado Gigante. Whether the kids were judging other kids in a talent show, or they were just having a conversation with Don Francisco, we never knew what to expect when they opened their mouths.

Psy and Don Francisco

When music star Psy wanted to make his television debut in the Latin world, who's show did he go on? Yes, Sabado Gigante attracts the biggest of stars from all around the world. Even after 50 years they are able to stay up with the times and deliver great music performances.

Ms. Colita

The prettiest women in all of television are always on Sabado Gigante. Who can forget the Ms. Colita August competition? We may have been too young to know what was going on or what the context was, but either way our eyes were fixed to the screen.

Zumba

Remember when Zumba was really popular for a few years? Sabado Gigante was the show that started the fad. All the dancers looked like they were having so much fun. Viewers at home would try to perfect some of the moves, but after five minutes, it was back to the couch.

Shock Magic

The magicians are always puzzling on the show. Are the tricks real, or was it just television? We still ask ourselves that every time a good one is brought on stage.

Beat Boxing

What in the world is Don Fransico wearing on his head? We never know, but the beat-boxing was cool.

Selena

There are numerous stars that have since passed on, but there memories still live on in "Sabado Gigante."

The Music

Larry was a great singer, but all we were looking at was the scene that was unfolding around him.
