‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Movie Release Date, Cast & Trailer: Racy Clip is Most Viewed Teaser in 2014
Things are looking up for "Fifty Shades of Grey" as its trailer created so much buzz after it was first launched last week on the TODAY show.
In fact, according to Nola.com, it is the most viewed movie trailer of the year, considering it has only been released for a week.
The Hollywood Reporter noted that the movie clip of the bestselling E.L. James novel has already garnered about 36.4 million views on YouTube since its July 24 release. Zefr firm reportedly tracked its current stats.
The reboot movie of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," placed second in terms of views at 31 million. Other well noted 2014 movie trailers include "Godzilla" and "Transformers: Age of Extinction" with 26.3 million views each and 23.5 million views for "Dumb and Dumber Too."
The "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie trailer got a little help from Beyonce, with a slower and sexier version of Queen Bey's track, "Crazy in Love," playing in the background.
Model turned actor, Jamie Dornan, who got the hot role of the kinky businessman, Christian Grey, thrilled fans of the books series, along with celebrity daughter, Dakota Johnson, playing the role of the naïve college girl, Anastasia Steele, Independent UK reports.
As expected, the trailer received a lot of criticism from a variety of conservative groups, saying that the film's content somehow makes the theme of sexual violence acceptable, and this should not be the case.
One of those mentioned groups is the American Parents Television Council. The group is criticizing not just the movie, but also the NBC show for airing the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie trailer on an early morning slot.
The Porn Harms Action Center website also released a statement on the possible effect that the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie may bring to the public.
"The Fifty Shades of Grey series promotes torture as sexually gratifying and normalizes domestic violence, particularly violence against women. With the popularity of this book, mainstream opinion-makers (like Oprah, the Today Show and Broadway) are telling the public (especially youth) that humiliation, degredation and torture in sex is normal and to just give it a try," the site stated.
The "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie is set to hit the big screen a day before Valentine's Day 2015.
