Super Smash Bros: News, Update, & New Characters [Trailer]
Super Smash Bros. fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief now that Nintendo has announced Captain Falcon will be a part of the new character ensemble.
Although Falcon has always been an essential aspect to Smash Bros., fans began to speculate as to why he had not yet been announced as part of the fighting line up.
On top of the Captain Falcon addition, Nintendo announced that Robin and Lucina from the 3DS game "Fire Emblem: Awakening" will be joining the battle list.
Although "Fire Emblem" is a strategy role-playing series, Western gamers found it to be extremely entertaining. The success of "Fire Emblem" shows in the now four playable characters from the game.
Super Smash Bros. has always been dominated by male characters, but with the addition of Lucina, Nintendo appears to be changing things up a bit.
Lucina is a main fixture in "Fire Emblem," which will help to change the around the stereotypical female characters.
From the Nintendo trailer, Robin certainly looks like a forceful player. His spell book and lightning fused sword will make him a player favorite in no time. After all, standing up to a falcon punch is no small order.
The three added characters are all hits in our book, but the Smash Bros. lineup is far from perfect. The additions of the Mii Fighters and Wii Fit Trainer appear to be cheap promotions from Nintendo.
Mr. Game and Watch was never a player favorite, but if given the choice between him and the Mii Fighters, users would rather stick with the old.
Other hit additions to Super Smash Bros. are MegaMan and Pacman, who will help to broaden the lineup. Taking a Namco and Capcom character will only help Super Smash Bros. in varying their selections.
So far the complete list of confirmed Smash Bros. characters are: Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Pit, Olimar, Toon Link, Princess Peach, Sonic the Hedgehog, MegaMan, Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina, Zelda, the Villager, King Dedede, Lucario, Little Mac, Diddy Kong, Zero Suit Samus, Greninja, Charizard, Shiek, Yoshi, Ike, Pac-Man, Mii Fighters, Lady Palutena, Robin, Lucina and Captain Falcon.
The launch date for Super Smash Bros. on the 3DS is October 3, 2014.
Nintendo isn't making any promises about the Wii U release date, but it is slated to land in stores just before the holidays.
