'Avengers 2' Release Date, Cast & Movie Updates: Stan Lee Cameo for 'Age of Ultron' Confirmed
Any Marvel film adaptation is not complete without a random Stan Lee appearance and the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" film is no exception.
The 92-year-old Lee spoke during the London Film and Comic Con event on Friday and said, as quoted by DigitalSpy.com: "All it can do is make it better for Marvel if we do these movies and the movies are successful. There are people reading Marvel comic books that would have never thought to read a comic book before," Lee said.
"It helps the comic book business. The movie business has been unbelievably incredible. The Marvel movies are about the biggest money-making movies of all," said the former Marvel chairman.
Lee, always a funny man, even suggested that the DC Comic's upcoming film, "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice," should also include him in a cameo to solidify it's success.
"DC could probably make a lot more money with Superman and Batman if they announced that I'd have a cameo in it! People wouldn't believe it - they'd have to go to the theatre to see it!"
The success of Marvel heroes themed films in recent years has not escaped the eyes of Lee. The actors who have brought the superheroes to life include Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and Hugh Jackman, to name a few.
"The movies have been great," said Lee. "We have been so lucky. We've got the best directors, the best special effects people and wonderful actors.
"People that had not been big stars before like the fellow who plays Thor (Chris Hemsworth) - he's wonderful! I was with him yesterday - I did my cameo of course [for Avengers: Age of Ultron]," continued the Marvel icon. "And Chris [Evans] who plays Captain America... He's excellent."
"Avengers: Age of Ultron," directed by Joss Whedon, is the second mass-superhero film that has a cast which includes Hollywood A-List celebrities like Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jeremy Renner, James Spader, Elizabeth Olsen and Chris Evans.
The Marvel website lists the plot of the film as simply, "The Avengers must assemble to combat the threat of Ultron!"
The film is scheduled to bow into theaters May 1, 2015 in North America but is scheduled for an earlier April 24, 2015 release in the U.K.
