Solange Knowles Finally Opens Up About the Infamous Elevator Fight with Jay Z and Beyonce
So it seems that Solange Knowles may be ready to open up about the infamous elevator duel heard round the world.
The altercation, which was caught on tape by elevator security cameras, showed Knowles kicking and swinging wildly as rapper Jay Z tried to shield himself from the assault.
Speculation as to the cause of the altercation was widespread in the days following the video's release. Cheating allegations were the most prevalent, with Jay Z's behavior rumored to be behind Solange's eruption.
An anonymous source told E News, "Beyoncé approached Rachel to let her know the behavior was disrespectful and she wanted her out of their lives for good. Solange came over to have her sister's back, and things got heated with her and Rachel."
"Jay said some disrespectful things to Beyoncé and Solange as the confrontation was going down," the source continued. "That's why all hell broke loose in the elevator and why Beyoncé just stood back and let Solange hit Jay."
And now, in an exclusive interview with Lucky Magazine, Solange says she has put the altercation behind her and has moved on to bigger and better things.
"What's important is that my family and I are all good," the singer, 28, tells the Lucky Magazine in its August cover story. "What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that."
The family released a statement on May 15, stating "At the end of the day families have problems and we're no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same."
Luck Magazine inquired about how Solange and Beyoncé's relationship was after the altercation.
"We've always held each other down no matter what," said Solange. "That's something I'm drilling into my son now."
"I think about all of those phases that I went through, and the ridicule and whatever that I experienced. And I can't think of one time where I ever felt like I was going to break. That's because I had confidence instilled in me by my parents."
"They didn't always like it," said Solange, "In fact, most of the time they didn't -- but they never asked me to change."
