NBA Trade Rumors 2014: Paul Pierce to Clippers, Lin to 76ers?

Is New Jersey Nets star player Paul Pierce looking for a new home? Reports indicate that the veteran guard may be looking at greener pastures, specifically those with the Los Angeles Clippers.

The NBA is facing a lot of movement as we enter a new series and one of the hottest movements, aside from the possible LeBron James - Carmelo Anthony situation, is that of Paul Pierce's. A reunion with Pierce's former coach Doc Rivers is possible.

According to The BleacherReport.com, the 36-year-old baller could be playing under the coach he shared 9-years with back in Boston. The outlet writes that "the duo could be reunited if the Clippers have their way, but they'll have to get creative to make it happen.

According to ESPN.com, Pierce became a free agent on July 1 and in order to get him on board, the Clippers would need a sign-and-trade agreement with the Brooklyn Nets.

"While the Clippers could simply sign Pierce as a free agent using their midlevel exception at $5.3 million, they are interested in pursuing sign-and-trade scenarios that would allow Brooklyn to get something in return for the 10-time All-Star and because the Clippers already have so many small forwards," writes ESPN.

It's being reported that the Nets are being offered a combination of Jared Dudley, Matt Barnes and Reggie Bullock.

Speaking to ESPN radio on Thursday, GM Billy King explains the negotiation process. "We're in the process. I think we know the number we want to get to and they know the number they want to get to and we're just trying to get to the part that we're all comfortable,"

"We have the ability to pay him more than anybody else but we are going to be a little bit more financially responsible at this point in time," continued King.

Another movement set to happen is that of Jeremy Lin's. The Houston Rockets posted a massive billboard of Carmelo Anthony donning the number 7 jersey of Lin on a facade at the Toyota Center.

According to Bleacher Report, as the Rockets are clearing cap room for Anthony, a deal to trade to the Sixers makes sense for Lin because although he pulled out an average season in the last series, Philly may just pick up the trade as Lin is due to make $8.37 million next season giving the Sixers in a bargaining position to demand more from Houston.

Frankly, Lin may not want to stay somewhere that shows so much disrespect. After the posting of the Anthony photos, Lin said on Twitter: "Luke 6:29 - If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them."

A move for Lin may be a solid win for all concerned, notes the Bleacher Report.
