'WWE2K15' Release Date, Gameplay & Trailer: John Cena on Cover; Wrestler Feels Honored & Privileged
The famous line "You can't see me" will be an irony late this year as John Cena will be on millions of "WWE 2K15" covers--and he received that scenario with "honor and privilege."
When you run to a gaming store near you early in November, do not be surprised to see the image of wrestling icon Cena on the cover of the "WWE 2K15." The fifteen-time World Heavyweight champion will be all over CD cases in what the Mirror reported would usher in a new generation of video games for WWE.
Cena, who claimed his 15th WWE world championship on Sunday via "Money in the Bank," was revealed as the cover superstar on WWE Raw on Monday, reported Polygon, and 2K Sports released the packshot on Tuesday.
"It is truly an honor and privilege to serve as the 'WWE 2K15' cover Superstar," said Cena. The game is scheduled to be released late in October and is currently in the development stage for Xbox One and Xbox 360, as well as PlayStations 3 and 4.
Slated to join the likes of basketball stars Michael Jordan, LeBron James and fellow wrestling big man Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as a cover star for the franchise games, he said he looks forward "to carrying the flag for 'WWE 2K15' and introducing the incredible next-generation of WWE gaming to the WWE Universe."
The Mirror report added that 2K Sports recognized Cena as the wrestling entertainment industry's biggest star, with 2K vice president for marketing Chris Snyder saying he was a "perfect" fit for the role--supplementing the improvements that were introduced to gameplay, graphics and presentation.
"With his outstanding record of accomplishments in the WWE and beyond, the iconic John Cena is the perfect WWE Superstar to represent the WWE 2K franchise as we launch the first-ever WWE video game on next-generation consoles," he said.
To highlight even more the move to a new era for WWE gaming, the logo on the packs will replace the "scratch" logo in use since 1997, with only slight modifications--following a change to be undertaken in August by the WWE business.
"WWE 2K15" is the second wrestling title published by 2K Sports, after picking up the series, Polygon said. It will be released in North America on October 28 and internationally on October 31.
"We are confident that Cena will drive 'WWE 2K15' to cement its spot in history as the greatest WWE video game released to date," said Snyder.
