Netherlands vs. Chile at the 2014 World Cup: Watch Live Stream, Start Time, TV Schedule, Lineups & Predictions
When Group B was announced, few imagined Spain having trouble advancing into the knockout stage, but Eduardo Vargas and his Chilean team proved otherwise.
The group's top spot is on the line as the Netherlands and Chile meet for the first time in over 86 years. Both teams have been pleasant surprises, but the South Americans proved they could hold their own with a 2-0 shutout of Spain last week, eliminating the defending World Cup champions.
The Dutch will get top billing if the contest ends in a draw, as their 5-1 drubbing of "La Furia Roja" gives them a considerable advantage by virtue of goal differential. Already without star striker Robin Van Perise, they will also make do without Bruno Martins Indi. The center-back suffered post-concussion symptoms following a 3-2 win over Australia.
When: Monday, June 23, 2014
Where: Arena Corinthians
Kick-off: 12:00 p.m. ET
Live Stream: WatchESPN, Univision
TV: ESPN
What to Watch For
Suspensions - Holland will be without star striker Robin Van Persie as he serves a one-match suspension. He picked up yellow cards in each of the Netherland's two opening games and best face his punishment before the knockout round begins. Look for Arijen Robben -- already with three goals in the tournament -- to carry the Oranje in Van Persie's absence.
Meanwhile, Chilean midfielders Arturo Vidal and Charles Aranguiz near similar fates. Each holds a yellow card and may not want to risk another so close to the next round. Carlos Carmona will start, should either player become unavailable.
High-tempo and pressure - Chile and Holland each have lightning-quick attackers, proven in victories over Spain and Australia. Robben is having the best tournament of his life and Eduardo Vargas's goal against Spain played a vital role in their advancing, all results of game plans that emphasize precision.
Each club puts a lot of pressure on wing-backs and carry out well-timed counter-attacks. Look for long passes and fast breaks, which will make this a fun match to watch.
Prediction - Both squads are into the Round of 16, but are still playing for a top spot. Look for Robben to continue his stellar play. 2-1 Netherlands
