'Transformers 4: Age of Extinction' Release Date, Cast and Trailer: New 'Telepods' Toys Combine Angry Birds
Given the success and popularity of the "Transformers" franchise, it's upcoming installment, to be released in a few days, will also be featuring a number of Hasbro franchise merchandise.
The "Transformers: Age of Extinction" will have memorabilia across various categories from apparel, digital gaming, figures and toys, publishing, accessories, footwear, home items (i.e. Beddings) and much more.
Zacks reports that "The Angry Birds are back. Hasbro Inc. (HAS - Analyst Report) - license-holders of the Transformers brand - is partnering with Finnish casual game maker Rovio Entertainment for Angry Birds Transformers, a mobile game and consumer licensed goods and a toys featuring the Telepods platform."
Under the deal, "Hasbro will also be producing physical toys under the Telepods line. The Telepods, to be introduced later this year, will feature embedded chips enabling them to 'talk' to mobile devices and delivering virtual characters into the game environment that can adapt and change during the game."
There has been a previous partnership between the two companies including the Angry Birds Star Wars and Angry Birds GO.
With the huge success Angry Birds has generated for Rovio since 2009, the line holds so much potential. There are plans to create a feature film by 2016.
Additionally, according to the Wall Street Journal Online, Hasbro has showcased its TRANSFORMERS brand during the International Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.
"The TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION licensed lineup is reinvented across every major category delivering 'MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE' style and innovation," Simon Waters, Senior Vice President, Global Brand Licensing and Publishing at Hasbro, said in the Journal article.
"With every new TRANSFORMERS film release, we challenge ourselves as well as our partners to outdo what we previously delivered to fans worldwide as part of our commitment to create the most epic, memorable and immersive TRANSFORMERS brand experience to date," Waters added.
The brand is going all out in the promotion, marketing and sales. It's taking on an innovative, wide and aggressive brand management to boost the licensed merchandise. In terms of promotions, there is a tie up with many companies including Chevrolet, Frito-Lay and much more. Hasbro is striking up partnerships with almost 20 major and new retain deals. Retailers working with Hasbro include Walmart, Tesco, Carrefour and Toys "R" Us as well as other collections and retailers worldwide.
