Belgium vs. Algeria 2014: Preview, Live Stream, Start Tie & TV Schedule - Results
Update: Belgium scores the winning goal, beats Algeria 2 - 1.
Group H kicks off their opener with Belgium taking on the underdog Algerian team. Algeria can be looked at as being one of the worst World Cup teams, seeing as how they haven't scored a World Cup goal is 1986. The Belgium team will look to strike early and often with their supreme goalkeeper tying up the back end.
Belgium comes into their Tuesday match being the 5th ranked team in the World Cup. The Belgium squad boasts 12 Premier League players and given the relative lack of competition in Group H, Belgium is looking to go far in the World Cup.
Algeria's hope rests on the foot of Lisbon striker Islam Slimani who scored five goals in qualifiers. Overall Slimani is riding a hot streak of scoring 10 goals in his last 19 games. Algeria will pray for the upset if Slimani can get going early hoping to strike some fear into the Belgium team.
Belgium hopes to counter Slimani with their goalkeeper Courtois who has saved 87 percent of shots fired during qualifiers. Belgium's biggest strength comes from their flexible midfielders that can deliver decisive blasts from all over the field. Along with their strength in the midfield, Belgium defends extremely well. In the European qualifiers they gave up only four goals total second to Spain. Spain was utterly dismantled by the Netherlands 4-1, so Belgium should make sure that keep their defense maintained.
Belgium vs. Algeria kicks off at 9 a.m. (PT) on the ESPN networks. The game can be also be streamed from https://espn.go.com/watchespn/index. Belgium is the heavy favorite in Group H and until they are proven ineffective they will continue to carry the top spot. Algeria is largely the weakest team in Group H so they would thrilled to come away from Tuesdays match with at least one point.
