Psy New Song 2014: 'Hangover' Video Featuring Snoop Dog is Everything it Should Be; 'Daddy' Coming Soon [WATCH]
Korean megastar, Psy, unleashed his latest video on the world this past Sunday, entitled "Hangover," and it already has 12 million views on Youtube. Yes, 12 million. And while it may have a long way to go to reach the transcendence of 2012's "Gangnam Style" (currently sitting at over 2 billion views), it's certainly off to a great start. And that's no doubt thanks in part to none other than Snoop Dogg, who lends his voice and presence to the new track and video.
The video begins with Psy waking up in a decimated apartment, and from there he then proceeds to spend some much needed face time with the "porcelain throne," whilst Snoop provides encouragement. After that the video explores common hangover tropes such as binging on junk food, bathing, and, you guessed it, more drinking! There is a particularly hilarious nod to the concept of beer goggles, in which two unassuming middle-aged women are transformed into sexy models through the miracle of getting wasted. From there Snoop and Psy play pool, strike fighting poses, and finally instigate an all-out brawl in a restaurant. You know, just your typical hangover stuff.
However, not everyone is pleased. According to The Independent, several fans of both artists have taken to twitter to voice their displeasure. Fans of Psy seem to feel the new track is a departure from his usual style, and claim it's overreliant on auto-tuned vocals and the presence of the aforementioned Mr. Dogg. Fans of Snoop, on the other hand, feel the collaboration is uninspired and proof that the artist has strayed too far from his rap roots.
And whether you like the video or not, don't worry. The next one is just around the corner. Yes, you heard correctly. Psy announced today on Twitter that another single, entitled "Daddy," is set to follow shortly. Get ready.
