Pound-for-pound boxing star Manny Pacquiao is still hoping to book a showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr. after he dispatches Timothy Bradley Jr. in their grudge match on Saturday at MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas.
The 35-year-old Pacquiao is few days away before stepping into the ring with Bradley, as he looks to avenge his controversial loss to the Bradley two years ago at the same venue.
During Wednesday's grand arrival of the fighters at MGM Grand, Pacman pointed out that he has no plans for an immediate retirement. He added that he could still fight for at least two more years, with the slugfest with Mayweather or a fifth clash with rival Juan Manuel Marquez likely as his next target, once he settles his score with Bradley.
"Mayweather only has to call and say he wants to fight me and the fight is on," Pacquiao said via the Daily Mail. "If Marquez is impressive in his upcoming fight I am not against fighting him again and closing the book on that one."
Pacquiao and Mayweather have been trading barbs ever since match-makers felt it's time for them to face each other in what could be a colossal boxing match in history of the sport. On the other hand, the itch to fight Marquez has remained strong for Pacquiao, especially after suffering a devastating sixth round KO loss to the Mexican in December of 2012.
Lack of Compassion Will Be Key to Victory
Head trainer Freddie Roach is looking forward to seeing a merciless Pacquiao at fight night. The Hall of Fame boxing coach believes that Pacman has been "too kind" to his opponents for the past three years, and because of that, opponents like Bradley have become more confident about fighting him.
However, Roach warned everybody to expect vintage Pacquiao on Saturday, adding that the nonstop mocking he has received from Bradley might rekindle the competitive fire in his prize fighter.
"Manny feels Bradley disrespected by Bradley talking about ending his career and is ready to pay him back for that," said Roach, who guided Pacquiao to become the only eight-division world champion in boxing.
