Football Transfer News: Arsenal Targets Explosive Trio in £100M Transfer Bid; Karim Benzema Available
English football powerhouse Arsenal will reportedly make a £100 million transfer bid this summer as they try to add firepower to their attacking unit.
In an attempt to reclaim its spot on top of the English Premier League, Arsenal is off to a big offseason with the grand plan of acquiring Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa, Schalke's Julian Draxler and Bayern Munich's Mario Mandzukic. Stan Kroenke has been very supportive of manager Arsene Wenger, despite the fact that the Gunners have once again come up short of contending for the title.
"Gunners supremo Stan Kroenke is remaining adamant in his support of Wenger despite their title challenge falling by the wayside once again this term, and is willing to bankroll him with a further £100m in order to ensure the same won't happen again next term," Caught Offside reported.
Nicklas Bendtner and Olivier Giroud are most likely gone next season, leaving a gaping hole in Arsenal's attacking platoon. However, sources indicated Kroenke is willing to spend a huge amount of money to bring "World Class" talents to Arsenal.
In fact, there are rumors that the Gunners are interested in acquiring Real Madrid's Karim Benzema. According to sources, Wenger has been intrigued by Benzema ever since the player's tenure in Lyon. Arsenal's chances of getting Benzema would be buoyed by the Los Blancos' plan to get Luis Suarez of Liverpool.
"Emirates Stadium boss Arsene Wenger has long been linked with an interest in Benzema, dating back to his Lyon days, and should Real Madrid succeed in their push for Suarez then the French international is likely to leave the Spanish giants," Caught Offside reported.
Benzema has been one of the regular players in Carlo Ancelloti's attacking lineup, racking up a total of 23 goals this season. However, many football followers are not sure if Benzema would be happy backing up Suarez in Real Madrid's high-powered lineup. A move to the English Premier League is a possibility for the 26-year-old Benzema, who could thrive alongside another former Los Blancos' Mesut Ozil.
